Better Off Ted
Better Off Ted is a satirical office comedy featuring a successful but morally conscious man, Ted, who runs a research and development department at a morally questionable corporation, Veridian Technologies. No achievement is too far fetched and no invention too unorthodox for Veridian. Need a suicidal turkey? Done. Need a metal that is hard as steel but bounces - and is edible? Done and done. Ted loves his seemingly perfect job; he loves his superhuman boss, Veronica, and colleagues Lem, Phil and Linda, but he's starting to take a closer look at the company's extremely questionable practices... especially when they try to cryogenically freeze one of Ted's scientists for testing purposes.
The Clothes That Got Me Laid...
Last Night Clothes, a blog about people getting laid and what they wore the night before which helped them get laid.
If listening to Billy Corgan still gets you off, you head towards this link and download this live bootleg of a 1995 Smashing Pumpkins show from Kiss The Stone (KTS) Records. Don't ask me about the track listing. I didn't bother to check it out.
The irony of it all. In the 90's, the record labels were trying to shut down such labels for their live bootlegs. And this is a pirated digital download of a "pirate".
Usually, if you could find those KTS albums which are recordings off the soundboard, those were audio testaments to how kick-ass some of your fave bands were live.

Erlend Øye live
I'm not a fan. But his cover of Big Star's 'Thirteen' is pretty rock solid. No one writes songs about teenage heartbreak as well as Alex Chilton.
Courtesy of Dublab, here's a full version of the set which he covers Paul Simon, Prince's 'Purple Rain' and some other original tunes. The Prince cover's pretty good.
Lily Allen - Not Fair
The remix, taken from Stereogum.com, is on the right column.
I'm still undecided if I like the new album It's Not Me, It's You.
The Coldwave
The Coldplay camp calls it "a new dawn in crowd participation". This was shot about a week ago on stage at a Coldplay show in New Zealand.
Noice.
I also like the fact that the bassist (who really knows anything about the other band members, except Chris Martin?) thanking Mercury Rev for going on tour with them and being a major influence on them. Who would have thought? You'd naturally assume that they just wanna be U2.
Pharrell vs. McDonald's
On a connecting flight home from Malaysia, we stopped in Paris. At 6am, Pharrell tries anything to get McDonald's to open up early. Maybe a little song and dance might do the trick. or maybe not......
Their show last Friday was really dope! Had great fun. Went with Robin, Nat, Jay, Benita, Adam, Mark and Inch.
Heard from Alda that they were detained at Immigration after their performance at Kuala Lumpur's Sunburst Festival the following day. Because the promoters didn't apply and pay for N.E.R.D's performance licence. So they missed their flight to Jarkarta, causing that show to be cancelled. Fuck.
Where The Wild Things Are trailer
Spike Jones' latest movie. Looks pretty good. Though I'm no fan of that hippie lovefest otherwise known as The Arcade Fire, I thought the use of their tune in the trailer was pretty apt.

Fever Ray - If I Had A Heart
Karin Dreijer Andersson, one half of the sister-brother electronic duo The Knife (which I fuckin' love!) releases a solo album under the moniker Fever Ray.
Yes, it's still the same weird-ass Swedish accent female warble which is still an acquired taste.

Bathtub IV
Found this amazing video here. I wonder how the director Keith Loutit executed this 'shift tilt' technique. It makes everything look like an episode of Thunderbirds. Hahaha.
Godzilla Bukkake
Billy told me about this website: Godzilla Bukkake last night over dinner and drinks. The site is hilarious!
What is even funnier was Weiyuan explaining the concept of bukkake to Benita using beer mugs. Noice.
In the event, you, too, have no idea what bukkake is. Read about it here. If you have no idea who or what Godzilla (or Gojira) is, you can probably go fuck yourself. And bukkake somewhere else.
Have fun, boys!!!
The I Am David Sparkle guys are in the States, playing the South By Southwest show in the US. Here's a picture of them (and their entourage) in the transit lounge.
What the hell? All of them are Mac users?!
Nice sticker, Lesley.

aspidistrafly
Ricks and April got their new site up. "Inspired by spring," according to them.
i hold a wish for you didn't do it for me as much as The Ghosts Of Things EP but I love what they do: subliminally quiet passages of sound. They will be doing a Japan tour soon for their Japanese distributer, Schole Records. Going to Japan. Woot. That's nice. Wish I were there again.
April takes very nice pictures as well. I think there's a link there.
The above video 'red toe nails' is from The Ghosts Of Things EP. It's beautiful. I had a weird ass moment once when I had the EP on loop. I was drunk going home from Zouk in a cab. When I woke up to pay the cab driver, the song was playing in the background. Suddenly, I was swept away with an overwhelming sense of beauty and sadness. I think being drunk helped as well.
If you like their stuff, you might wanna check out You And Whose Army?'s James' side project with his girlfriend Melissa. Issa's like aspidistrafly with lesser reverb and more traditionally constructed tunes. Check them out here. I like their stuff a lot too.
"My Grandmother Can Remix Better Than You, Fatboy!"
We are going to release a new project on Children's Day, Monday 1 June 2009. It will be a remix album where we dip our grubby fingers into other peeps' tunes. Titled My Grandmother Can Remix Better Than You, Fatboy!, it will be us remixing our friends' songs.
Look out for that! I will probably put up a remixed tune for download soon.
Some of you might know that The Lard Brothers started out in 2006 with the intent to provide remixes for Singapore acts and submit songs for Kylie Minogue to record. Like the Pet Shop Boys, we were rebuffed as well. So we have to stick to this.
And the second full-length Simply As Designed which Yeeyong and Robin have come onboard to help us with. We are about 80% done with our demos and are looking into full production soon. I hope.

Gigiantic trailer
Written and directed by Matt Aselton, the romantic comedy stars Paul Dano, Zooey Deschanel, Edward Asner, Jane Alexander, John Goodman, Ian Roberts and Robert Stanton.
In the film, Dano plays Brian Weathersby, a 28 year-old salesman at a high-end Swedish mattress company. The afterthought child to elderly parents (Asner, Alexander), and the youngest son in a trio of successful brothers, a shady oil man (Roberts), a surgeon (Stanton), Brian is searching for his place in the world. Unfulfilled by his work he spends a good portion of his day pursuing his goal of someday adopting a baby from China. He gets swept up in a romance with the lovely but misguided Harriet Lolly (Deschanel) when she comes in to his store one day and falls asleep on one of the beds. To win her over, he must compete with her bear of a father, Al Lolly, (Goodman) an art-collecting loudmouth with a bad back and deep pockets.
When Zooey Deschanel asks, "Do you have any interest in having sex with me?", "No" is not an option for a reply.

UNIQLO
This is pretty old news. The Japanese brand (which Nat calls the Japanese Giordano) is opening 2 stores in Singapore.
Got the picture off Grace's blog. Reading that blogpost reminded me that I didn't manage to get myself some stuff from their store when I was in Tokyo. Well, I don't think I'm going to get something overpriced here though...
I'm feeling an overwhelming sense of loneliness/ emptiness these days... I doubt it's the recent diet of listening to the old Faye Wong songs.
"There must be some way outta here..."
I dunno about you guys but there will be a missing gap in my life come this Sunday. Usually, that's the day when I'll catch the latest episode of Battlestar Galactica. And this episode is the series finale. The end. The last episode ever.
At least, I still have Yvonne Strahovski in Chuck to look forward to. Noice.
Bat For Lashes - Daniel
Ms. Natasha Khan sure has a penchant for single take music videos.
The Fray covers Kanye West
Dammit, I hate it when someone beats me to an idea... even though it's a simple one which probably everyone has thought of. Dammit...
Download The Fray's cover of Kanye West's 'Heartless' here. It's mellow but pretty good.
Well, there's still 'Love Lockdown' left to do. If not, there's always 'Robocop' which should be covered just because of the song title.

Nine Inch Nails (with Dillinger Escape Plan) - Wish (live)
The overtly-meaty and angsty one aka Trent Reznor will be bringing his little tribe of merry men to grace our shores for a live show on 10 August 2009.
Noice.
Doctor Quantum
Esther sent me this. Very interesting stuff.
MC HotDog - 差不多先生
Was out with Bryan last night to support Koflow and Garuda at this new event night 'Donuts' at O Bar. While we were drinking, both of them asked me to check out Taiwan's MC HotDog whom I'm only familiar with his hit '我爱台妹'. Bryan (of all people, hahaha) asked me to check this tune out. Pretty good.
The man will be performing live tonight at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre at 1040pm. Fo' free, yo! Not sure if I'm going down...
Check out this Beijing-based hip-hop unit called 隠藏 or the AngloSaxon pronounciation Yin Ts'ang. Very good stuff.

Being Human
The BBC Three show Being Human came highly recommended from Billy. It's basically about "three apparent twenty-something characters sharing a house in Bristol, trying to live a normal social life, despite being a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire."
You gotta love the premise of such a story...
I'm gonna start on this after I'm done with Chuck Season 2.
Scarlett Johansson is the Black Widow
First Showing just confirmed that Scarlett Johansson took over the role of Black Widow from Emily Blunt in the Iron Man sequel. While I can think of many ways to spend a few hours with the newly minted Mrs Ryan Reynolds, Scarlett Johansson is clearly wrong for the role. Emily Blunt was the fan favourite to take up the role anyway. Ah well...
Taken from the 'Daily Show with Jon Stewart'. I love Americans Christian fundamentalists. Don't you?
And Soon the Darkness
I don't really watch horror movies but there is going to be a remake of an old 1970 psychological thriller. And said remake is starring the 2 lovely ladies in the above-placed picture: Amber Heard (left) and Odette Yustman (right, who still hasn't added us on MySpace. That sucks!) That news alone got my panties in a twist...
Nice.
Star Trek trailer
I've always thought the original series starring William Shatner was hilarious. Then again, I was never a fan to begin with.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer
Modern Talking - Brother Louie
I'll like to dedicate this song to my fwens Edwin, Billy, Max, Yeeyong, Nat, Grace, Weiyuan, Benita, Inch, Kinho, Biddy, Pamela, Noel, Ann (and Drayden, of course!), Robin, Dionne, Hui Hsien, Linda, Simon and Adlin.
"Stay kewl and funkay always!!!"

(500) Days of Summer trailer
This stars Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (whom I've read really great stuff about. I've not caught 'Brick' yet. Strangely, he's cast as Cobra Commander in Stephen Sommers' 'G.I. Joe'). I think it's coming out in July or August. Hopefully, it will be better than 'Nick & Nora's Infinite Playlist' which I thought was slightly underwhelming. The intro of the trailer is damn killer.
"I love The Smiths too..."

Kanye West - Heartless (live)
The Weird Sisters - Do The Hippogriff
Got this from Benita. It's a scene from the previous Harry Potter movie.
It features an imaginary band The Weird Sisters, fronted by ex-Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker and backed by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood and Phil Selway. Ex-Pulp bandmate Steve Mackey handles the bass duties while Jason Buckle of The All Seeing I is on rhythm guitar and Steve Claydon of Add N to (X) is on keyboards.
Jonny Greenwood appeared in an old movie soundtrack many years ago, forming a superband for the movie 'Velvet Goldmine' which starred Jonathon Rhys-Meys, Ewan McGregor and Christian Bale. The superband had Thom Yorke and Bernard Butler in it. Super cool. I can't remember where I left the CD though.
Apatow Productions takes over Ghostbusters 3
Got a mail from Billy this morning. Check this out.
God knows how much I love Ghostbusters. Such a classic horror comedy!
As with almost Hollywood's take on old movie franchises, I wouldn't be surprised if Judd Apatow (who directed 'The 40-Year Old Virgin' and 'Knocked Up') rebooted the whole thing. C'mon, Bill Murray is way too old for this.
Well, what they could do is to get an entirely new team of Ghostbusters to match up against the old one. Well, my vote for casting goes to Steve Carrell as Peter Venkman, Seth Rogen as Raymond Stantz and Paul Rudd as Egon Spencer. I've no idea who should be cast as the token black guy but hey, I would venture with Common, the rapper than Martin Lawrence or Chris Tucker.
Will Farrell would probably do his own schtick if he were to be cast as Peter Venkman. I'd love to see Steve Carrell take the persona he created in 'The Office' (which was so much different from Ricky Gervais) and give it a spin in a shot at Ghostbusters.
INAPPROPRIATE. That was what 54-year-old retiree Pang Buck Seng was told of his neon green swimming trunks by two NParks officers.
The New Paper reported on Monday that the incident took place on Feb 17 at about 3pm. Mr Pang, a retired fisherman, had gone to the beach near the former Big Splash to swim and get a tan.
Well, thank Gods, I threw out my neon pink G-string swimming trunks a few years back.
Psychedelic fish
I read about this on BBC News. At first, one might assume upon reading the headline that eating the fish will take you a trip. Unfortunately, not so. It's basically a new species of fish discovered recently off Indonesia.
The live version rocks, retaining the studio's fragile beauty while adding a more upbeat outro. I'm still trying to get into the latest album The Crying Light though.

The REAL Prison Break
'Prison Break' is a suck-ass TV series. The last I heard from a friend is that Season 4 sees them going back to the same prison which they were in once, trying to escape from it. Yes, they are jumping the shark nowadays.
However, this is the true prison break from one of the bleakest places on the planet.
